11/90 to PresentDamon Smith joined Mirabella & Associates to form Mirabella, Smith & McKinnon, Inc. a governmental relations and consulting firm specializing in legislative, executive and administrative agency, and local political subdivision lobbying, as well as public relations, political campaign consulting and fundraising.
Smith has more history in successful privatization of government services than any consultant in Tallahassee. Smith is an active member of the Republican Party of Florida's Committee of 100.
Representing a diverse group of clients and interests, the firms principals include: a major computer corporation, a national advertising agency, a statewide association, a municipal bonds company, a mental health company, a private prison company, a private security company, as well as banking, insurance and other international clients. The scope of the firm’s representation ranges from international to the local level.
The firm’s officers and staff have over 70 years practical experience and background in Florida governmental issues, with strong emphasis in the fields of general government, regulated industries, criminal justice, education, public finance and political campaigning.

Upon joining the firm in 1984, established the firm’s Miami office handling client, public and governmental relations in the southern half of the state. In 1986 moved to Tallahassee to take over all state and governmental relations for the firm. During this period, worked on behalf of such diverse clients as Citibank, United Technologies, American Express, Wackenhut, The Florida Film Industry Alliance and many others.

During this time served as liaison for the Senator and was responsible for the southern half of the state. During the Senator’s re-election campaign in 1982, left the U.S. Senate payroll and ran the Senator’s campaign for the southern portion of the state.
